Tourist Could Face Deceit Charges
By Kendea Jones A Philadelphia man who claimed he was abducted and robbed in broad daylight over the weekend could face charges of deceiving police soon, according to police According to police reports, the man, who is believed to be in his 40’s was discovered lying in the street by an off-duty policeman in the area of the Eastern Road and High Vista. The man told police that four males in a black SUV abducted him as he left the automatic teller of an unknown bank or address. He told police he was beaten and robbed of an undetermined amount of cash and jewelry. However, on Sunday police said that after conducting a search of the complainant’s hotel room at Superclub Breezes all items that were reported stolen including jewelry, credit cards, wallet and other personal affects were accounted for at the time of search. Additionally, when officers saw the complainant there were no visible signs of trauma to the body. Further, the complainant was seen by doctor, who observed a minor swelling to the right cheek, according to police. The Royal Bahamas Police Force wishes to assure the Bahamian public and visitors to our shores, that they take seriously any and all allegations made to the police; however, it is the responsibility of the police to ensure that complaints are authentic and that persons are not allowed to manipulate the police in order to satisfy their personal agendas.
