Question Another Boat Stolen

I leave my boat on the lift with more anti theft than a nuclear missile, so i thought. I have power shut off to the lift as well. Anyways the thiefs cut the stern cables on the lift to get the boat off. I have a chain wrapped crazily through my T top, this chain cannot be cut and cost a small fortune. They cut through the aluminum T-top to get the chain off. All other chains and cables were there to slow them down if need be. I also have a GPS locator which tells me if my Boat is moving when im not there. They called and notified me at 2 am monday morning. I sent a friend and a plane to go after the boat and the police were somewhat helpful. Although the boat did sit in Tiloo for 2 hours...anyways the police were finally in the chase by daylight and the plane was overhead following them as well. visual contact had been established! The police were within a mile of the thieves when they spotted either the plane or the police. They guys made a bee line for the rocky shore....Bam! They beach the boat and make a run for it!!! At the same time the police seemingly just turn around and head for home without no intervention...turns out they ran out of oil. anyways the thieves get away as my boat is getting smashed on the rocks. 4 hours later we recovered the boat, which has more holes than swiss cheese. Total loss! We had more anti theft than any other boat in Treasure or Abacos that i have ever seen (i know there were more things we could have done). No matter what you think your boat is not safe. These guys have not touched our boat for the past 5 years until now. I wish we could put an end to this madness. I love the abacos more than any other place on this earth...this really just puts a sour taste in my mouth. What is it going to take to get the Police more motivated??? The boat sat in Tiloo for 2 hours, 3-5 am, but the police said their marine unit does not come in till daylight...i guess theres no such thing as an emergency?? Anyways some people did a great job and others really slacked.

Question Tilloo Boat Thieves

If they ditched the boat on Tilloo...how did they get off the Cay?? They would have had to steal another boat or catch a ride or SWIM or there still out there hiding in the Bush?? Did the Police go back out there and make a search or couldn't they have gotten another plane out there to see were they were until the Police could get out there???? some thing just stinks about this!!! Any one have any answers???

Default

I read that they hung at Tilloo until daylight then headed south, ran the boat ashore at Crossing Rocks.
